We convert existing koras from the traditional leather rings to machine heads.  We also repair and adjust both types.  A kora can also be customised to suit your own hands, for example some people need a larger bridge to make it easier for them to reach the strings.

To convert an existing kora costs between £190 and £450 depending  on the machine heads used, the wood chosen and the condition of the kora body, bridge and strings as well as how much you need us to do in terms of assembly, stringing up and retuning.  A new neck is cut and used for every kora.

Conversion, Repair and Customisation

If you need help repairing a kora or simply want advice on how to turn one into a playable instrument from one that was perhaps bought on e-bay  or on holiday in a fit of enthusiasm, do feel free to get in touch.  We’ll do what we can to help with free advice and suggestions.
