Learn with us in France

Join us in the Aveyron, a beautiful part of southern France, for a weekend or more of Kora learning – we’re here from May until October (in the UK mid July to late August)  You can go for the budget option of joining us at La Melangeuse – a former limestone quarry now an eco centre with caravans, yurts etc. Or if you like more comfort stay at Mas de Jammes where we hold our Group Workshops.

"Great environment that lets you focus on your practice in as many hours as you want. Nice and caring people. Great kora tuition for any level" Mathias, Denmark

The Comfy option
If you want more comfort and don’t fancy the compost toilets and a bathroom in an imaginatively converted van at La Melangeuse(!), you can opt for staying at Mas de Jammes, a beautiful venue run by the lovely owner Fabien.   We can book it for you direct with Fabien, or go through AirBnB as you prefer. He has a choice of rooms and prices.

  • €40 per day, all inclusive – no minimum stay
  • all kora tuition
  • loan of a kora, if needed
  • self-catering (we help with getting to the shops and market) though you can opt to join us for lunch (5 euros a day)
  • help with arrivals/departures

We run two Group Workshops a year, but also accept individual or small groups of kora students.  The area is great  for walking, cycling and visiting the many local attractions for which this part of France is famous, so if you have a non-kora playing partner there is plenty for them to do.

The tuition, is similar to that of the group workshops and one that guests have found to be the most effective; Adam teaches you throughout the morning, but allowing you the time to practice in between.  He is nearby and normally carries on making koras.

Many students are interested in the process; it is all part of the experience.  After lunch is your free time but we’re often on hand for more help or advice.  If you would like a different arrangement, just ask as we tailor all tuition to the individual – there is no set ‘program’ as no two students are alike..
